Little Neighbors Jr. Book Club
When our little neighbors read, our whole community grows.
At Neighborhood Vitality Corp., we believe in caring for all our neighbors - even the littlest ones - both inside and out. This includes nurturing the love of reading.
Studies have shown that low literacy levels could serve as a barrier to good health (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC1492599/). Addressing literacy-related barriers may help reduce disparities in health outcomes.
The goal of Neighborhood Vitality’s “Little Neighbor’s Jr. Book Club” is to increase literacy skills among children ages 4 to 10 by fostering a supportive and engaging reading environment. It aims to support parents by providing resources and guidance to encourage reading at home. The club focuses on enhancing reading comprehension through interactive discussions and activities tailored to young readers. Ultimately, the book club seeks to develop a lifelong love of reading by making stories enjoyable and accessible for children at an early age. By accomplishing this goal, we hope to increase health literacy throughout our communities.
Our next cohort begins in January 2026. If you're interested in helping your child get a head start in reading, sign them up below!
